Meet Dr. Kent Smith

As a double board-certified practitioner of dental sleep medicine, Dr. Smith is the founder and chief medical officer at Sleep Dallas – a practice that is devoted to providing comprehensive services to individuals who are suffering from sleep breathing disorders.

With more than 25 years of experience, he has helped more than 10,000 patients achieve better sleep using oral appliance therapy and other unique methods of treatment. Dr. Smith is also a pioneer and expert in the field, and he regularly facilitates national and international seminars and lectures to teach dentists about dental sleep medicine.

“Goodbye, Good Night”

Known for his dedicated examination in the field of sleep-disordered breathing, Dr. Smith has spent much of his time devoted to writing for medical publications and performing countless hours of research. However, his interest in the written word extends beyond the realm of scholarly articles and journals. He is now the proud author of two novels, “The Unfortunate Gift” and “Goodbye, Good Night.”

In his latest book, “Goodbye, Good Night,” Dr. Smith doesn’t stray far from the arena of sleep apnea as he discusses the dangers of insomnia in the year 2020. Sharing the fictional experiences of individuals who are 50 years of age and older, the book follows Drs. Kyle Hunter and Marie Jimmerson as they work alongside Arizona Times Herald reporter Jacob Potter. As more and more people die by suicide and accidental death each day, the three find themselves working around the clock to identify the underlying source of this formidable foe before more patients succumb to this lethal condition.
